Iga Swiatek Clinches Third Straight French Open Title

Iga Swiatek has accomplished the extraordinary feat of winning her third consecutive French Open women’s title with a commanding victory over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, the 12th seed.

Swiatek, the 23-year-old from Poland, dominated the Roland Garros clay courts once again, defeating first-time major finalist Paolini 6-2, 6-1. Despite an early break, the world number one quickly rebounded, winning 11 of the next 12 games.

This triumph marks Swiatek's fourth title in Paris and her fifth Grand Slam victory overall, following her win at the 2022 US Open.

"I love this place; I wait every year to play here," Swiatek shared in her post-match speech.

Swiatek now joins tennis legends Monica Seles and Justine Henin as the only players to achieve a ‘three-peat’ in the women’s singles since the Open era began in 1968. She is also the youngest player in this era to claim four titles at Roland Garros.

After securing the win in just over an hour, Swiatek celebrated by sinking to her knees and then dancing around the court.

In her runners-up speech, Paolini congratulated Swiatek, saying, "Playing against you here is the toughest challenge in this sport. It's been an intense 15 days, and today was tough, but I'm really proud of myself."
